Description

Kodak’s slogan from the late 1800s “you press the button, we do the rest” sounds good and even with today’s technology is still an overstatement.

I walked many times by this statue of a cherub riding a sea dragon before getting the photograph I pictured in my mind : a dramatic sky, but not too much to having enough light for the details, the jets extending the movement of the dragon and reminiscent of the life bursting from the whole sculpture.

Being part of a larger group dedicated to the god of the sea, many tourists overlook this Cupid and only glance at the central piece. They miss the childlike grace of the the cherub, how modern the sculpture was at the time with the artist bending the conventions in the middle of the baroque period to deliver something fresh and uncluttered.
