Cherubs
Giclee Black and white photograph. Limited edition print of 5 on Photo Rag Baryta 315g. Delivered unframed.
Description
The pensive eyes of these cherubs resting their elbows on the lip of a vase, holding their cheeks with both hands could be people of today.ย They are mystical creatures made of bronze and yet we can relate to them.
History is passing by these cherubs since 1667. The royal coat of arms on the body of the vase was defaced shorty after the French revolution and replaced with a faces, one of the symbols of the French Republic. The vase was also moved to a secure storage at the beginning of WWII.
Nevertheless in their sculptural stillness they remain in the garden for which they were made.
